Hello everyone,
I'm interested in getting some exposure to a new (for me) aspect of
harmonica playing. Being new to the instrument (only a few months of
experience), I am still searching for my 'enjoyment niche', if you
will. My practice to date has been with all the normal beginner stuff
(to get single notes with lip pursing and with tongue blocking, bending,
vibrato. learning some simple tunes, blues riff, scales, etc). I have
not yet decided the style that I would like to focus on. So I
evaluating several before I get too far along. I am attending Gindick's
Jam Camp in Dallas this month. That will get me more exposure to blues
jamming, improvisation, riffs, etc.
I am interested in getting some experience with minor key songs - in a
couple different ways. I'd like to spend some time with third position,
with jazz or improvisation over minor key tunes or backing tracks, and
with playing the melody of some minor key songs. I want to get some
experience with my Lee Oskar Natural Minor G.
I interested in your suggestions for a couple tunes to start with - a
couple of tunes for learning melodic playing and a couple for improvisation.
I am also interested in your suggestions about what to practice and how
to practice as it relates to my learning minor playing. I play piano
and a good foundation in music theory. So feel free to discuss modes, etc.
_*Iceman*_, are you seeing this? A few months ago I saw a video of you
playing a minor tune (melodically as I recall) with a guitarist
accompanying you. What was the tune?
Thanks in advance,
--
Paul
