My original message was off list because it wasn't harmonica
related. Under those circumstances, my opinion would have been my
prerogative. So, in effect, I thought I WAS being cautious. Glad I
used gentile language...ho ho
smo-joe p.s. much larger explanation coming your way because it
still isn't harmonica related. hee hee

Are you talking about that bamboo or wood tube thing with an alto
mouthpiece and either alto or clarinet reed, no flapper door keys
and
only open holes (like a recorder).
If so, it's a toy. If you're talking about the teenie teenie sax,
then no, I never tried one.

I would say it is no more a toy than a recorder is a toy. I have one.
Fingering and limitations are similar to a recorder and it shares
the same
musical limitations. It sounds similar to a sax, but it is
certainly not a
sax. As long as you keep your expectations reasonable, you should
be OK with
it.
I like mine, but I will certainly not be getting rid of my
Super-20 in favor
of the pocket sax. Certainly is easier to carry around, though.
Everyone is entitled to their opinion, but those who play
harmonica should
be cautious in calling anything else a toy.
