I use to do the same thing by making 'favorites'
tapes and CD's. I rarely burn a CD unless its for
my wife.
But with an iPod and iTunes, I use playlists and
most are 'smart' playlists that automatically get
created by iTunes whenever you add songs or update
the ratings, comments, etc.
The 'playlist' feature is pretty powerful...
I like setting up playlists that play songs rated 3
and above
(or 4 and above or whatever) that haven't been played
in several weeks...
I often update songs on iTunes that have song keys and
harp keys,
so I have smart playlists that automatically select
songs for
a 'C harp' or 'A harp', etc. Great for playing along
with when you
have the correct harp handy.
