Re: [Harp-L] DVD audio question
Anyone know how to get at the underlying audio on a DVD? I have a music
DVD that I'll watch once or twice on the computer. I'd really just like
to listen to the music. Any ideas on how to rip the audio and get it to a
burnable state so I can move it on to a CD? I own the DVD and I'm only
making a copy for my personal use. fjm
I've done this.
To capture:
Start the free program Audacity.
Select stereo mix as input from the pull-down
Start the DVD
Start recording before the music that you want starts.
Stop recording when done.
Edit with Audacity as required.
To save in burnable state:
Export MP3 from Audacity (requires free plug-in)
Burn:
Your own way of burning MP3 files to CD.
I could be wrong, but it is my understanding that if you put Vista onto your
PC that it has extensive DRM and you will no longer be able to do such
things. I don't plan to go to Vista any time soon, and I have a Linux drive
on my PC. I just mention it as a cautionary. When my Windows Media Player
upgraded itself to 11.0 it stopped ripping from my backup CDs and I had to
go to my original CDs. That's the end of transferring my compilation CDs to
my MP3 player using Media Player. That is the direction that Microsoft seems
to be going.
