I saw him suck a crowd in with about a 10 minute blistering solo. Then, he switched over to his vocal mic and finished his solo with a traditional fox chase with all the traditional whoops and vocal effects. He brought the bar to its feet.
I never thought I'd see a bar brought to its feet in 2006 by a fox chase.

Perfect timing. Just this morning, while listening to a Jason Ricci song on XM, I made a note to look for clips of him playing acoustically. No, it was not a little voice in my head that said, "It's probably all just effects, he doesn't really have awesome tone and phenomenal playing ability." The voice really did say, "I wonder how he sounds acoustically." Of course, the little voice might have meant the former and phrased it as the latter to try to disguise his intentions, I really don't know. The little voice and I aren't often on the same page.
(I just checked the schedule and it says we're due for one of those brand/model debates that start innocently enough but end with personal off-list feverishly heated debates. I'll try to kick it off, but as a relative newbie who posts very little, and since I started with a question about where to find something online, I've calculate that less than 10% of you will even read this far. Official beginning of brand/model discussion: My definite favorite right now is the Bushman Delta Frost. Unfortunately, I lost the draw 4 reed on my one and only DF in less than three months of moderate playing. During the same time (and before when I was even more newbie), I put in far more time on my Lee Oskars without losing a single one. (I really dislike the non-smooth numbers on the top of the LO...and the high propensity for squealing, especially in the higher notes.) My guess is that the early failure is more a result of my inferior playing ability than it is of inferior product. I'm
certainly willing to try some more of them. As (bad) luck would have it, C2C is out of the DF reed plates AND full harps. I haven't even tried a Sp20 or MB yet, so based on this information, the 4% of you still reading this can now officially move on to the next message without a shred of guilt.)
(Okay, fine, I'll order a Sp20 and MB with my C2C order as soon as those DF reed plates are back in stock.)
Thanks,
Jonathan "is still considering switching to kazoo" Compton
