Jimmy Reed was not the greatest harp player but very good, not one
of the guitar heroes, and a better than average blues singer And he
had a concept of total musicianship which resulted in a distinctive
style and classic cuts... Big Boss Man, Insurance, You Got Me Dizzy
etc.
Most of the masters of blues harp performing today do a Jimmy Reed
soundalike in their recordings and live perfomances. In spite of
being a rack player, Jimmy Reed is essential in his influence on
blues harmonica and the unique sound of his music which is widely
recycled by admittedly capable musicians.
