Re: [Harp-L] Pattern players
A couple of years back at Buckeye (and you might have been sitting
there, too, Ken) I asked Madcat to show us one of his fast licks... He
showed us some kind of crazy thing just using mostly inhale notes on
two holes... I couldn't do it even after he showed us... He called it a
''little trick' or something like that....
He continues to amaze me....

I love discovering new patterns.
Peter "Madcat" Ruth has lots of great patterns that
are not just notes,
but breathing, chugging, and syllables, and plus all
the sounds from
various whistles, hunting decoy calls, and squeeze
toys.
Madcat is a grand master of patterns!
His video 'The Ins and Outs of Rhythm Harp' is
stupendous!
I wish I had more time and tallent to learn all this
great stuff!
I would love to someday actually completely figure out
his 'boogie lick' (for a lack of anything better to
call it),
that he has used on various songs; its a stepping type
pattern,
like two notes up, then one down, maybe vice
versa--not sure!
You can hear this 'boogie lick' on his song 'New
Harmonica Boogie'
starting at about 0:56 and going to about 1:11.
Madcat if your reading, how about a tab for this lick
!
Or put it on your next harmonica instruction video
with other cool pattern licks!
I will be the first to buy it!
