RE: [Harp-L] Recommendations for Gigs re lighting
Regular (i.e. - household) bulbs are dirt cheap, readily available
anywhere and come in various wattages from a dim 25 watts to a massive
200 watts.
Colored bulbs, when and where you can find them, are usually low wattage
(intended more for decoration than illumination) and expensive.
Selection of colors and/or styles may be limited to one or two.
(Murphy's Law dictates that it will always be the color you need that is
out of stock at the local Home Depot.)
There are also "flood light" bulbs with permanent, colored lenses, but
again, they are expensive, occasionally limited in color selection and
heavy. The weight of the bulb can make a big difference depending on the
type of light rig you are using (professional vs. homemade
mic-stand-and-clamp-light).
With the colored film , you buy it once and that's it, provided you
don't use a hellishly-hot bulb without ventilation and melt the film.

Halogen or fluoresent lights produce a blue wave that washes out skin
tones.
Gothcha, re yellow. thanks.
What is the benefit of the gel film for coloration over colored
bulbs?
