[Harp-L] Teaching to bend

Hi,
MelBay has a series on Diatonic harp for about 8 bucks a book. Any one of them is worth getting (they repeat the same info with the scales, templates, etc for all 12 keys). I learn from them and they are great to loan to a devotee (to harp).
Also, having some one put their hand on your throat. gently. to feel the movements can help lead in the right direction.
Whistling a falling tone, mimicing a falling bomb (a suggestion in MelBay) illustrates the movement of the jaw, tongue, etc in a bend and attempting to produce the whistle while inhaling.
  Pardon my liberty for responding.
I am not an experience teacher, I am an experienced student.
  Peace
  BB

Subject: [Harp-L] teaching to bend

Hi -
I have been playing harp for many years, but I am self-taught, and
therefore not a very good teacher. However, I keep getting asked to teach
harmonica lessons, so I am trying to improve...
My main problem is teaching begginners how to bend - I mean basic 1-4
draw bends. I have tried the syllable mthod I heared on Jerry
 Portnoys excellent masterclass (EE-OO)
but it dos'nt seem to work for me. Any suggestions from you
experienced teachers out there would be greatly appreciated
