I went to see Paul Lamb and the Kingsnakes in Southport last night.
I was looking forward to the gig as I haven't seen the band in almost
ten years.
As usual Paul Lamb was excellent and the band were really tight and
highly polished.
Pauls son Ryan Lamb is now on lead guitar and was very impressive and
is an excellent replacement for the highly talented Johnny Whitehill
who used to hold that seat.
Chad Strenz as always sang his heart out, and boy can he sing!
Watching Chad sing is like a vocal masterclass. His goes from a
whisper to full throated roar with amazing ease.
Rod Demick on the Doghouse Bass was fantastic and is also a great
singer, who tinges his vocals with humourous undertones.
Sonny Below on drums held everything together and never hit a wrong
beat. His fills and the grooves he laid down were absolutely on the
money every second of the show.
Paul Lamb was as always great on the harp. He had a small problem with
his mic early on, but a quick change over sorted that out. He broke
out the chromatic a few times, and of course he did his Sonny Terry
thing. Damn he is so good at that!!
Paul was playing through his Fender Concert 410
Chad was using a Sonny Jr 410 for rhythm guitar.
Ryan Lamb was using a Fender Vibrolux 210
It was a great night and i recommend anyone who hasn't seen the band
to do so. You won't be disappointed.
Paul
