Yes, that is the same thing. 1/4" jack terminology is either "tip/
sleeve" or, in the case of the stereo variety, "tip/ring/sleeve" -
corresponds to the physical characteristics of the male plug, and
dates WAY back to when the phone company used 'em in switchboards.....

Subject: [Harp-L] Astatic XLR Cable Question
I left my Hi-Z cable for my XLR JT-30 at a gig a couple of months
ago. I know I need a cable with "pin 3 hot". Is this the same as "pin
3 to tip"?
