Subject: Re: [Harp-L] What's a double Stop??

Thanks for your Youtube video, Mox. I meant to thank you for sending it
earlier...it's very clever..showing a C diatonic.. colored "lights" indicating
the blow, draw and where the bends occur along with your playing...where
they're softened up, etc.

I'm surprised no one else has commented, yet. I found it quite ingenious...

Much appreciated!

As to Smo-Joe's video discussing his tongue-block bending on diatonic,
here's a repeat of the YouTube video he mentioned: 'After the Loving'.

According to :
http://www.angelfire.com/fl4/moneychords/doublestops.html
>A double stop, in music terminology, is the act of playing two notes
simultaneously on a stringed instrument, for example a violin, a viola, a cello or
a guitar. In performing a double stop, two separate strings are depressed
(stopped) by the fingers, and bowed or plucked simultaneously. Double stops are
exclusive to stringed instruments; for example, double-stops cannot be
performed on wind instruments. <

Smokey-Joe proved them wrong!

>If you were to block one middle note and sound either ONE note on one
side and TWO notes on the other side (doesn't matter WHICH side) this
is ALSO a double stop.

Reason?

The 'double' is done by the webs at the corners of your mouth.<

But then "they" went on to say :

>Likewise, the triple stop (three strings) and quadruple stop (four
strings).

Collectively, double, triple and quadruple stopping are called multiple
stopping. <

Wow !

Triple stops?

strictly reserved for U blockers

anybody in the room ever done it?

Quadruple stop?

Aagggg

(Guess this doesn't help - but !!)
