Muddy at Newport may well be the first released example of live amplified harp-I can't think of one that precedes it.
There is a c.d -'Sting it Then!' by Slim Harpo on Ace Records from a live show in '61 where there is loads of amplified harp.
The tone is much more amped up than his Excello recordings-he is clearly holding the mic. and it sounds like he is playing through a guitar amp. although it could be an old tube p.a system,
Cheers,
L.G
