[Harp-L] Re: wireless AKG

Greg,
The part is still available according to the AKG.com website.
There are several versions in the WMS40Pro series.
Guitar, instrument, vocal and Universal which the S0-40 is.

I can order AKG's through my wholesale distributor. Email me offlist and I will check
with them on availability.

take care

In response to drori hammer's question about wireless rigs, a
thoughtful post from Alexander Savelyev suggested the AKG system with
the SO-40 transmitter as one of the options. This is a great
solution, but as nearly as I can tell it is simply no longer
available. The site Alexander listed for this item says "Permanently
Out of Stock
We do not expect this item to ever be in stock again, and cannot
provide a timeframe for when or if this might happen." This is
consistent with what I've been told elsewhere. To be clear, the SO-40
transmitter is a a little barrel with an XLR connector designed to
plug into a Low-Z (vocal style) mic. Now AKG only offers low-Z
transmitters built in to their own mics. If you don't like their
mics, tough luck. Many of my customers, including Jason Ricci are
fortunate to own an SO-40-based system, use it my volume control and
like the combination. Unfortunately customers of mine with the
Samson unit aren't nearly so happy.

It seems the only way to buy an SO-40-based AKG system is to find old
inventory or buy used. If someone can post concrete details to the
contrary, or a comparable product from another vendor, I'd sure like
to know about it.

FYI -for you Hi-Z mic users, AKG makes another system for guitars.
The transmitter is called the "guitarbug". Google this and you'll
find it IS available. I have one and it works quite well.
