I play both 10th and 12th positions, 10th more often than 12th. I also
play 4th if I have to. These all have the same thing in common: the
tonic is a bend. Of the bunch, 12th is by far the easiest for me,
although I have little use for it. 10th, which requires either an
overblow or a valved instrument, is also rather easy. I find 4th the
most difficult and use it only when I forget everything except my C maj.
and have to play in A.
The key to all these things is being able to hear yourself so you can
correct your tone, and to be amplified so that you can play lightly.
Given these two things, there is no reason why these bent-tonic
positions are not perfectly playable.
