Re: [Harp-L] Radio Shack Dynamic Mics

I saw Eddie Kirkland play through a Radio Shack mic and sounded amazing. Most people would only know him as a guitar player but he also plays great tasty harmonica, a perfect example of natural talent and tone overcoming sub standard equipment.

cheers,

Ian.

They are low impedence and those mics are basically junk for harmonica. Of course now, someone who has good tone can have good tone with any mic, but that doesn't mean much if you're wanting a biting overdriven tone such as a good harp mic. The amp makes a big difference too!

The RE10 is a nice mic and it's low Z as well, but it has that old Alnico magnet "quality tone". A hi Z adapter and you're in business.

hope that helps.

Subject: [Harp-L] Radio Shack Dynamic Mics

Hi,
New to the list, and I was wondering if anyone has tried any of the Radio
Shack dynamic mics that have the built in chord. Does this mean they are High
Impedence? Im also wondering if they overdrive the amp much. Im looking
around for a good dynamic harp mic that has plenty of umph, and im also considering
the RE10. Thanks, any advice would be appreciated.

Austin Shifflett

**************************************
Get a sneak peek of
the all-new AOL at http://discover.aol.com/ memed/ aolcom30tour
_______________________________________________
Har p-L is sponsored by SPAH, http://www.spah.org
Harp-L@harp- l.org
http://harp-l.org/mailman/listinfo/harp-l
