  in other words a way for the TRICKSTER (the monky being the last example of the many animal tricksters carried over in african folklore)  to avoid direct statement or challenge with a stronger opponent...one of the main tricks seems to be to get someone else to fight your enemy...or to mock him behind his back to weaken him etc.....
