If you live near a music store, try out the amp. If you don't--most  
companies let you return stuff. Try it out. There's also the epiphone  
amp at around $130.00 and the little Peavy Transtube amp.If you like  
old toasters you might like the little hottie amp found here:

for $150.00. Granted it's solid state but it's built into a toaster so  
it has to sound good.You pay extra for flames but the flames really do  
improve the tone.

Seriously--the only way to know if an amp is any good is if you try it.
