Re: [Harp-L] death of live music? from talk to action

Most responses to Rosco's query were observations on the state of live music.

We can debate what is/what isn't all we want. A better question may be -
"What are we going to do about it?".

The older crowd may have been turned off by later & later starting times,
smoky venues, volume issues, drunk driving laws, etc. Anyway, the 30-50 yr
olds
aren't going to keep many venues in business. They never did go out to
clubs
in large numbers.
This group has more disposable income to spend on entertainment, but don't
support live music because of the very turn offs mentioned.

So, do you think that if an upscale venue offered no smoke, great food and
drink, reasonable volume and earlier start/end times along with world class
musical talent that this older crowd just might come out? and if the music is
good enough, all ages will attend?

Time will tell......

By the way, the next show is May 23 and features Charlie McCoy with his
favorite group of Nashville Players. Same location as the Mark Hummel Harmonica
Blow Out - Captain and the Cowboy, Apopka, FL (N or Orlando).
