Re: [Harp-L] Music Writing Question

Brothers & Sisters of the 1, 2 switcheroo,

You might try asking Norton himself. bufffanclub@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

He was/is currently on tour with - oh, here it is - http://www.norton-buffalo.com/performancelistings.html Steve Miller in Texas.

He's very nice to talk to, (e-mail) and answers are both straightforward and in pretty good time.

If you spend a little time with your circle of fifths and some tab'd tunes you'll find a lot of possibilities with switching. Mel Bay also has a chord chart that is helpful on organizing your harps/chords so that some fairly complex chord patterns can be performed.

I also like to use low harps to round out the bass effect. A group of us were trying to emulate a trio using a 16-hole chrom (primarily for the bass notes and supported with the low harps) a 12-hole chrom and a LOT of 10-hole diatonics in place of a 48-chord...It's a lot of work but can be done!

Suave Blues Man

Great chart. I looked through your page a little and noticed a small

It's something that I'm working on and don't claim any expertise I'd like to
find more information about how people who do it well do it. I've been
holding them like the picture but I often smack myself in the nose with the
harp on top.

This http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x_cT14JALaQ shows Charlie McCoy doing
switches but I haven't tried that method for quick chord progressions. I've
never seen the Famous Norton Buffalo four harp switch thing, I'd like to.

Any good harps switchers got something to say?

Peace and music,
Dave
