I am a huge Billy Joel fan. Enormous in fact. That's
the music I grew up with. My dad was from NY,
and...oh yeah, harp content!
Joel has used the harp in several songs. Always
simple, but highly effective. "Angry Young Man" is a
great example. The melody of the song is played in
unison with the rest of the band, which is pretty hip.
Even the "Piano Man" riff is cool considering he
doesn't play very much harmonica.
I am listening to Kim Wilso right now. "Tough Enuff"
was a huge hit for the T-Birds. Too bad there was no
harp in it.
