"The best"  is extremely subjective and interpretive.  My bass player's 25 
year old son taught me several years ago that there are only two kinds of 
music............good music and bad music.  That's a pretty sensible thing 
for a young drummer to say.  When my students ask me which kind of harp is 
the best?, I usually respond with.......... what's the best kind of blue 
jeans to wear?   The bottom line is that everyone has their own opinion of 
what the best is or isn't and though it makes for good, healthy debate and 
discussion, there are so many Bad Mo Fos out there playing music.  Some of 
them we are all aware of.  Some of them we will never hear of on a national 
scale.  I have a student who has become an extremely fenomonal player in a 
very short time.  He lives in a very small town and is a vice cop. He's one 
of the most intreverted people I've ever known and has no intentions of 
making a "name for himself".  He listens to virtually every harp player he 
can find and has learned that even though there are people he'd like to 
sound like, those people already sound like that and thus he's developed his 
own sound.  I think that he's got the right concept.  All we can hope for as 
harp players --Pro or Casual -- is to be the best player we can be with 
hopes of bringing some enjoyment and entertainment to folks. 
But............if any of you cats are like me....................(even 
though I teach and play professionally)  I do it all for me !!!
