Re: Re: [Harp-L] Need wireless recommendation

Ladies and Gents

I have been lurking for a long time, but I have some advice in this regard so I'll come out of the dark.. I have tried Samson, AKG, new Nady's and none of them were as good (transparent) for running an old hi-z microphone through as my old Nady 201 (guitar system). You can plug the 1/4" right into your mic. The transmitter input has enough headroom to tolerate the output of crystal and dynamic microphones. I ended up buying another one off eBay for $45 and it works like brand new. With some soldering expertise, you can cut the cord from the transmitter, leave 2 - 3" and put a female jack on it; then you keep the transmitter on your belt and when you need to put the mic down, you just unplug the mic. The annoying "bubble" power switch that WILL FAIL can easily be replaced by a push putton switch. There's plenty of room in the case.

One guy around Syracuse asked me to set one up for him.

Good Luck

Bernie Clarke

I've had good luck with the *Samson **Airline 77 Handheld Wireless System
(with Q7 Microphone)* complete system for $250.00.

If you visit this AKG page for the WMS-40 *Pro*, you'll see that transmitter option 5 is the snap-on: _http://www.akg-_ (http://www.akg-/) acoustics.com/products/powerslave,id,925,nodeid,5,_language,ENUS,pid, 925,mynodeid,186.html

What would be really nice would be to have a snap-on and a guitar
bug that transmit on the same frequency, so you could have a single
receiver that would work with both the loZ and hiZ inputs.

Hey list,
I also have the AKG unit & like it fine. I have both the guitar bug (for
my
bullet mics) & the XLR (for my RE-10). I asked AKG about using both
transmitters (on the same frequency) with the same reciever.
Apparently this is no
problem unless you have both transmitters on at the same time. The catch
is,
buying a seperate transmitter tuned to a specific freq is not
much cheaper than
buying two seperate rigs, which is what I wound up doing. As mentioned,
the
advantage of the AKG is the input sensitivity, which can be set up for
different mic outputs.
