You could say that about *so* many blues songs. particularly those by little walter (if i get her in my sights - boom boom out go the lights), muddy ("i'm gonna whup my baby in the  morning boys, pet her in the afternoon", etc. like so many ugly things (racism, etc) it was part of the culture back then, better now but unfortunately still around to some extent.
