[Harp-L] Lee Oskar & Tulsa Read together again in Concert
Through the years I have conducted harmonica seminars and performed with my
friend Lee Oskar, and I just remembered that we were up in Iowa two years ago
to conduct a harmonica seminar and to perform a short concert in a stadium.
We had the American Indians open up for us by playing their tom-tom drums,
dancing and singing. That was too cool. Well, Lee and his band the "Original
Low Riders" (formally known as "WAR") will be performing their reunion concert
in Kansas City, MO. tomorrow night, and Lee has invited me to perform with
them. I recently performed with Mark Wenner & the Nighthawks, and in a couple
of weeks from now, I'll be performing with Mark Sallings & the Famous
Unknowns. Recently, I had the honor of being inducted into the "Country Music Hall
Of Fame", and this Fall I'll be down in Nashville to record with Charlie
McCoy. Just an update for those of you that have been emailing me about my health,
the left side of my mouth is still paralyzied from a series of operations
from mouth cancer. However, I am now "Cancer Free", and I'm trying my best to
play my harmonica from the right side of my mouth, as I did at this past SPAH
harmonica convention. That reminds me, I would like to thank all of you
harmonica players that came up to me during the convention to shake hands; give me
big hugs, etc. and showing your concerns for me. It was very emotional to
say the least. It was Jack Daniel's that got me through a midnight Bluegrass
jam session, along with having a hangover the next morning for me to conduct
the Gospel Harmonica seminar. I won't forget that. I would like to thank Paul
Davies for his outstanding hard work through the years for the SPAH
organization, and for allowing me to carry on my seminars each year on Country,
Bluegrass & Gospel Music. Harp-L, keep up the good work, and God Bless.
