.yep,

hugely disparaging the paucity of little walter video available for us 
harmonicophiles.  thanksgiving that us young-uns born and raised in the 
chicago area ever got to see him at all!!

thanks for posting those you tube links!  (i've had those on vcr for a 
number of years, bought them from a harp-l'er)

little walter at least had some solo time on the video, very tame (coool!) 
almost by default as one can tell from the moment to moment dynamics.   that 
whole number was very much in-the-pants, very much buttoned-down for the 
cameras and the white folks.....can you imagine what that combo would be 
layin' down after dark at the local nightclub ??  give me a break.  hound 
dog taylor would have been beating the shit out of his sears guitar and 
little walter would have been doing god-only-knows-what.      still, in that 
very clear, high quality video clip you get a  very real, extraordinarily 
rare glimpse at how elegant and cool ,trim,fit,alert,controlled ,poised and 
ready, little walter is.

on the other hand, the beautifully produced john lee hooker clip is 
embarrassing in the sense that an american master is placed with a morbidly 
obese pop music white european poseur wannabe (van morrison, i am a fan) 
playing a very much mediocre ,bland, unaccomplished, albeit passable 
harmonica part.   too bad they didn't partner  john lee hooker with with 
someone, ANYONE, with about 10 times more harp playing savvy than van the 
man. pick anyone that muddy ever called up for example.  gimme a break.
