RE: [Harp-L] Who is Henry Carvajal?
Like every artist in Rod's ensemble Henry plays with a lot of taste and
dynamics. He teases and toys and builds. He knows what to expect from his
contemporaries and like a real master he takes the different route. Derek
Trucks does that also. Like Henry's vocals too. Henry just has style and
taste. Very passionate about his axe.

Subject: [Harp-L] Who is Henry Carvajal?
I saw Rod Piazza last night, and again today at the Santa Cruz Blues
Festival, and this is one harp player who knows how to showcase his entire
band, each
of whom is excellent. (And how many harp players would share the stage with
two saxes and pull it off perfectly?)
But for once (rare in a show with a harp player) the thing that struck me
most, was his guitarist, Henry Carvajal, who played some of the tastiest
licks
I've ever heard.
In this big jam, with Tommy Castro, Coco Montoya, Mighty Mike Shermer and
Piazza, Carvajal stole the show. The big name guys stepped back and let him
take
the front of the stage. He sounded like an old, old blues guy dropped here
four decades late.
