[Harp-L] Subject Re: Laurie Garman, "Laurence"
Just for the record.....the "Laurie Garman" mentioned in this listing of the
Gig list for the NHL in England....is the very same Laurence (tall, dark
hair, black leather jacket) many of us met when he recently visited Buckeye with
Roger Trobridge and sat in on the late-night Blues Jams.

10:00am-11:00pm
A day of workshops dedicated to blues harp tuition.
The workshops will be structured for the benefit of players ranging from
beginner through to intermediate level and will cover a range of subjects,
to include: help and guidance for beginners, developing tone and technique,
improvisation, playing with a band, using amplification, practising
tips, etc.
The teaching team will be:
* Laurie Garman of the "City Shakers", formerly of the legendary "Yardbirds"
* Paul Gillings of the "Feelgood Factor" and former World Diatonic Blues
Harp Champion
* Rob Venables of the "Bluestate Blues Band"
* Tony Stokes of the "58 De Luxe Blues Band" and "Paul Cowley and the
T.T.'s"
* Pete Wheat, accoustic player and performer
All experienced players, performers, and qualified harmonica teachers.
In addition, the teachers will be there to offer help and advice to
individuals whose
particular concerns are not fully covered in the workshops. So before you
come, identify your personal goals, ask what you would like to learn or
achieve in the day. This event also gives you the chance to spend a day in
the company of other players and enthusiasts, learning from each other.
After an evening break we will be joined by the "58 De Luxe" Chicago style
blues band, hired especially for the occasion, who will host a jam session,
giving everyone the opportunity of playing with a band.
So why not join us for what promises to be a rewarding and enjoyable
experience? Go for it!
NHL Members: £20.00
Non-Members: £22.50 (£20.00 if you join NHL on the day.)
