Not a comment on Dave's (or anyone's) playing specifically, but in 
my experience, people who can't repeat themselves if they try 
generally repeat themselves more than they know.  

Try recording one of your performances, and when you go back and 
listen to it you'll likely be surprised at how often the same licks 
and riffs emerge time and again.  

Again, not commenting on Dave's or Taylor's or anyone's particular 
playing; I've not heard either of them.
