RE: [Harp-L] Rod Piazza gear at Tampa Blues Fest - blow by blow
I agree totally. Rod combines lip and pucker. He has very deep tone and
although he is meticulous about the mic, cord, amp etc. it all starts at his
orifice. In our classes it is clear. Also look at Rod's windup and how he
exhales from the entire body. It is like he is uncoiling. However, even
seated Rod's tone is huge. No law suit needed. Come to our classes and you
can experience this, enjoy the musical atmosphere that Rod and Honey create
and really enjoy learning.

GEEZ - the harp WAS BARELY IN HIS MOUTH and the big tone was there. I know

many times, good tone starts before you plug in. In Rod's case, I have sat 5
feet in front of him with no amp or mic and his tone is solid. And, my
opinion, there is more to his particular sound than tone depth. But this is
not an apologia for Rod or anyone in particular, just an observation that
booming tone will not come out of any gear if good tone does not go in.
