[Harp-L] Brief report from Stockholm

> Joakim played into an
> apparently ancient brown-and-tan Premier amp...
> in other words, a very traditional Chicago blues setup.
Joakim, who is a friend of mine, plays a Premier 88 amplifier. This funny looking amp --two section cabinet-- sold for $295.00 in the 50's.

It sports a 15" extra heavy duty woofer speaker with with two tweeters in a special frequency dividing network. An organ stop tone panel offers full tonal range with instantaneous change from deepest bass to most brilliant treble.

Convenient stops on the panel give realistic simulation of bass violin, banjo and other instruments. It also has an electronic tremolo variable in both strength and speed. The illuminated knee high control section has 6 inputs, 2 volume controls and an on-off switch, 5 organ-stop instrument tone controls for microphone channels.

Tubes: 10 tubes specially designed to push-pull beam power circuit, undistorted average power output of 30 watts.

This amplifier was the best to buy in its day. It was said that the premier 88 represented the greatest advancement in professional amplifiers. Dimensions: 29" long, 21-1/2" tall, 11" wide.

Should you ever meet Joakim, he'll tell you that Kim Wilson played his amp during a recent sewedish tour. Kim is said to have been pleased by what he heard. Premier amps are worth checking out, IMHO...
