[Harp-L] What's a good "light-weight" amp that can cut

Dennis, I'm prob. one of the least techical guys out there, but i don't 
understand - Why is it undependable to plug your mic into the PA? That 
would be alot easier than using an amp at a jam, not to mention 
carrying on public transportation.  If u want to color your sound with 
your amp, why can't u just run a simple cord from your line out to the 
PA?

PS: I'm gonna be close to NYC in May.  Anything interesting happening 
between May 8 and 15?
