[Harp-L] MAJOR CORRECTION: Position to Mode Relationships

Thanks to Steve Shaw, who quite correctly pointed out that I screwed up the
positions vice modes in a previous post. (That's what happens when you write
long posts without checking everything twice!) Here is the CORRECT
information (I hope)!

Position Number Built-in Mode Intervalic Sequence (Scale Degrees)
         1 Ionian 1--2--3-4--5--6--7-1
         3 Dorian 2--3-4--5--6--7-1--2
         5 Phrygian 3-4--5--6--7-1--2--3
        12 Lydian 4--5--6--7-1--2--3-4
         2 Mixolydian 5--6--7-1--2--3-4--5
         4 Aeolian 6--7-1--2--3-4--5--6
         6 Locrian 7-1--2--3-4--5--6--7
         7 UNDEFINED
         8 UNDEFINED
         9 UNDEFINED
        10 UNDEFINED
        11 UNDEFINED

Please note that I rearranged the table, based on the 7 scale degrees (and
modes based on each scale degree) in sequence, rather than on the position
numbers.

It's much easier to see how the MAJOR scale degrees "shift" leftward each
time the scale degree increases by one.

BTW, I used one hyphen to represent a half tone interval, and two hyphens to
represent a whole tone interval. I hope that was intuitively clear.

My apology for adding confusion to something that already is confusing to a
lot of people (me included).

Regards,
Crazy ('bout harp!) Bob
