Bob, I don't dispute your scholarship here, but with respect the 
positions-to-modes on the harmonica are not as you set out here:

The ones that mean anything to me in playing Irish music are:

1st = Ionian
2nd = Mixolydian
3rd = Dorian
4th = Aeolian
12th = Lydian
