[Harp-L] Harmonica Convergence at Northwestern University
Dear Friend,
I'd like to bring to your attention Northwestern University’s
upcoming Harmonic Convergence Music Festival, an exciting and diverse
lineup of performers converging for a series of truly one-of-a-kind
concerts. Among these is the “Harmonica Convergence” show in Pick-
Staiger Concert Hall at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, March 31.
Paying homage to an emblem of 20th century American culture are jazz
harmonica great Howard Levy; Austrian classical virtuoso Franz Chmel;
longtime performer, harmonica maker and instructor Joe Filisko;
Chicago-based Billy Branch and the Sons of Blues; and the nostalgic
Windy City Harmonica Trio. This diverse assembly of musicians will
come together to perform a selection of harmonica works that display
the many facets of this versatile instrument, spanning jazz, blues,
classical, and popular harmonica styles.
Feel free to forward this e-mail to your contacts, colleagues, or
anyone else you think might be interested in this performance. Please
contact me directly if you're interested in postcards or full-sized
posters. A full listing and description of the festival events can be
found at www.pickstaiger.com. Thank you, and we hope to see you at
the concert!
Best,
