Hey Ya'll,
I've just recently been able to check out all the great stuff
afloat on Harp-L again. I had a major car accident and my laptop was part of
the damages. And, then I had almost the duplicate accident in a rental car,
same thing another laptop gone. So, I'm back in business and happy to see
that so many people have truly gotten up to speed about one of the most
cherished assets to the harp world, Sonny Jr. The messages and good will
show how well regarded this gentleman truly is in our community. His
multiple contributions are absolutely phenomenal. I just wanted to say once
again to the list because I have written a few things about SJ in the past.
The guy is a God send! The amount of things that he has done for me and in
acquiring the most incredible amp in existence today has been unbelievable.
He is a genius, a mentor, an incredible musician, an inspiration, and just a
helluva guy! And, just before his operation he replied to my email, sending
me an amazing email giving me insight, direction, advice, and another
setting which increases the total of 81 variations of set-ups for the SJ 410
to over 85 settings.
Bill Hines, whom I admire and respect for his intelligence and
thoughtful manner, said it well in a recent posting to the list where he
sent a prayerful thought. Scooter and others have kept us abreast to the
development to the operation and situation. We need this guy to recover and
keep charging straight ahead. What he has done for harp players and what he
is capable of doing in the future is limitless. He gave me even a more
developed insight to his newest idea and creation to come. If you haven't
gotten a Sonny Jr. Amp, yet? What are you waiting for? I already started a
new saving fund for the next amp to come out of his arsenal of shoot'em dead
amps. My SJ 410 is able to be played at low volumes for small venues and can
truly rip in the big halls or outside. And, when there is a talented sound
man available my SJ 410 even amazes me and I've experimented with a ton of
settings always finding the right setting for each group or band that I play
with from a soft trio, two heavily amplified blues bands, to a hard charging
Rock-Blues combo that we call the style "Rock-a-Bluesy". (Don't steal the
name or the idea!). These amps are collector's items! Just imagine in a few
years the next generations of harp players will sight the Sonny, Jr. Era
like we sight the original Bassman era. I give you fair warning! The longer
you wait the chances of having one of these incredible possessions gets
smaller. You have time, supplyn' demand, and the chance that this super
motivated man might get swept away by some clever businessman or entity to
do something else in the world of harmonica, or heaven forbid, some other
calling. Think about it!
Praise and all respect to Sonny Jr.!
Rockin' Ronny
