RE: [Harp-L] Blues on the Chromatic harmonica

Can anybody recommend me some of the greatest blues
chromatic harmonica players ever to play the
instrument??? Any tips such as what chromatics are the
most used to get that William Clarke,Walter Horton
sound etc is welcome...

Thanks,

Bruno.

hmm...as far as I know...Big Walter never played any chromatic... al least not on record...but he did have awesome Tone.

I would say that the most widely used chromatics for blues
has always been the Hohner 16 hole #280/64 & the Super 64...
(both are solo tuned and usually played in 3rd position)

As well as the 12 hole - 48 reed - #270 Super Chromonica...
(solo tuned and available in almost all keys)

These were the chromatics harps of choice for the trend setters
and masters of the blues chromatic like George Smith & Little Walter,
as well as the modern day masters such a Piazza, Clarke, Hummel,
Estrin, Paul Oscher, & Mitch Kashmar...and dozens of others.
