[Harp-L] A little help with wiring a volume pot
Hi, Christopher
There is more than one way to wire a volume pot. I have made and sold
hundreds. If you look on the FAQ page of my website (accesible from
the page covering vintage (hi-impedance) volume controls, among other
things you'll find a schematic for a generic control.
The main page is http://www.blowsmeaway.com - the faq is at http://

Hi All
I am trying to build my self a little volume control gizmo to
go between my mic and amp as my mic has no volume control.
I have two female 1/4 inch plugs wire up to a volume pot- mic lead
goes in one and the lead to the amp goes in the other. The problem
starts when I try to lower the volume, the more I turn the volume
down the louder my amp hums. So yes the gizmo works, it does lower
the volume the but the hum makes it impossible to use.
This is a learning experience for me, I know very little about
electronics and the workings of mics, amps and related stuff, so I
am probably missing quite simple.
Can anyone offer any help?
