[Harp-L] Harp Popularity

Just got back from my vacation at the jersey shore. On the boardwalk,
there are always these wheels (game of chance) that have music themes -
i.e. lots of musical instruments you can win from simple recorders to
electric guitars, amps. On the first day, I noticed that there was quite
a stack of Hohner Blues Band harps among the other prizes. Later in the
week, actually only a few days later, they were all gone. There were
plenty of other attractive prizes in the same category (obviously you
need to win more than once to get a guitar). I asked the guy running the
booth where all the harps went. He said they are extremely popular this
year. Wonder who we can attribute that to, ha. Likely the Miller kid and
Taylor Hicks.

Of course, we all know that most of those harps won't get played more
than a few times, but odds are there are at least a few of the folks
scooping them up that will have the determination and persistence to
become good players and maybe join us here. Of course, at best it's
another swell in the bell curve/sine wave of the popularity of things.
Just an observation since we were discussing earlier the impact of these
recent prominently featured harp players on major prime time network TV
here in the US.
