[Harp-L] RE: Harp and COPD
Using David Barrett's COPD-material, I started a pilot-project in a hospital at the beginning of 2005. Now, they have a 15-piece orchestra of COPD-patients who practice in the hospital on a weekly basis, supported by fysiotherapists and lung-doctors.
Tests show that lung-capacity has not improved, but the breathing-apparatus has become much stronger and there were some improvements on sputum-production. Plus an overwhelming improvement in well-being (due to the fun and the social function of the orchestra).
Coverage of this project on Dutch national TV can be found on http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qARYxt7Wq80
Similar projects are now starting in two other cities in Holland.

I distinctly remember reading somewhere a few years ago that playing harmonica is good for people with COPD. Do you guys know anything more about that?
