When my blues partner [guitarist] died a few years ago his guitar teacher
and I played You Got to Move, One Kind Favor and Police Dog Blues. The last
one was a personal favorite of his. If I ever have to do this again I will
practice until I've expended as much emotion as I can before the service.
This was one of the most difficult things I ever did and I was totally
blindsided by the flood of emotion. However, since the deceased was a blues
player the mourners loved it. The only time I've heard applause at a
funeral.
