RE: Re: [Harp-L] Re: portable mp3 player/recorder- mobiblue
I've just received the LINE-IN microphone with pre-amp from ebay that is
mentioned in the link below and I'm very impressed with the quality of the
recording it made on the mobiblue. You also need a female to female 1/8"
jack adapter to connect the mic/preamp with the line in cable supplied with
the mobiblue.
The recrding is a little shrill on the harp (or maybe it's me) and the mic
is very sensitive, it's picking up the birdsong from outside the open
window. There's no apparent way to adjust recording levels.
I think this is good enough to use in a classroom/workshop situation,
certainly better than the ipod attachment I tried last year.

>Well, I was just looking for a way to use an external mic (or stereo
mic) without a mixer or preamp with this little recorder. Remember, it's
cheap and it has amazingly long battery life. Randy described a great way
to run a line from the mixer, but in a situation where there is no mixer (we
play some VERY small venues), it would be nice to have off-unit mic(s), but
not at the expense of dragging around a mixing board and then having to
power it. A lot of folks use minidisc, which is okay, but this would be
simpler.
Some of these look interesting, and cheap enough:

I'm not sure how much better the quality would be, but I'm sure it can't be
worse.
