Need something to do for the Fourth? The Fourth is a good day to practice
your patriotic tunes, from the revolution on to now. It is a great way to
kill time before the nighttime fun begins. So get "crackin'"!
Here's some ideas:
*Chester* (Revolutionary War, simple, 1st position),
*Yankee* *Doodle* (Revolutionary War and prior, simple, 1st position),
*Marine* *Hymn* (1st position)
*As Those Caisons Go Rolling Along* (Army, 1st position)
*Anchors Aweigh* (Navy, 12th position -- start 5 draw, 6 draw, 7 blow, 8
draw, 6 draw, 8 draw, ...)
*Airforce March *(not simple, usually a missing note, can be found in
various positions with lots of bends or on chromatic)
*Rally 'Round the Flag* (Civil War, 1st position, simple)
*Battle Hymn of the Republic* (Civil War, 1st position, simple)
*Star-Spangled Banner* (2nd position with bends or 12th position on upper
octaves with 10 blow bend -- starting 7 blow, 6 draw, 5 draw,...)
*America, the Beautiful* (natural minor harmonica using major scale,
starting 5 draw, 5 draw, 4 draw, 4 draw, 5 draw, 5 draw, 4 blow, 4 blow, ...
requiring one bent note in tune)
*My Country 'Tis of Thee* (1st position)
*God Bless America* (1st position)
and so on...
Have a Happy and Safe Fourth of July!!!
