FWIW, at some point you might think about upgrading to a Shure low-to-hi-z 
adapter. I've had a few different cheapies over the years. At the urging of 
someone here on the list (Don D., I think), I finally took the plunge and 
bought a Shure A95UF transformer to use when I'm using an SM57 or EV RE10. I 
seem to remember it cost at least twice what the Radio Shack model did, but 
the sound quality when using this adapter is indeed quite a bit better.
