Hi -
Big Joe Turner's "Turns On The Blues" is a great
record for sure. George "Harmonica" Smith is playing
on all but one cut I believe, just like on Sunnyland
Slim's "Slim's Got His Thing Going On". The Sunnyland
LP, which was originally part of the same series of
LPs that also included George Smith's Tribute to
Little Walter, was re-issued on CD on the Sequel
label, but now is out of print. The LW Tribute was
also re-issued as part of Capital's Chicago Blues
Master's 2-CD set that included James Cotton and
Shakey Jake.
Just of interest...on The Big Joe Turner LP, George
does play 2nd position on chromatic for one cut. AND
George played on another Big Joe Turner LP, where
George bends the 10 blow on an F harp...not a Low F
either!
See y'all on the road
