Pat told me a few years ago that it is a "Frankenstein" mic cobbled together 
by a friend of his using an American shell, some sort of dynamic element (he 
didn't know the details), with a volume knob added. I think the video clip 
made the mic look larger than it really is, though it is on the large side 
for sure. I've been seeing Pat off and on since 1987 and I've only ever 
known him to use two mics -- he made the switch to this mic after his old 
Shure died. TWO mics in 19+ years ..... talk about a non-gear-head! Some of 
us switch mics twice a month. LOL!
