Fwd: [Harp-L] minor keys and choices

Depends on the minor tune. It might be do-able with a standard harp.

By the way, Lee Oskar natural minors are LABELED IN SECOND POSITION -
so to play in A minor in second position, get an A natural minor. The
draw chord will be A minor, the blow chord will be D minor. (Not sure
if Hohner uses this system or not.)

If second position is your strong preference, then depending on the
tune, you might be able to do what Sonny Boy II did on "Help Me" - bend
the Draw 3 down, avoid the Blow 2 and 6 and the Draw 7, and keep it
simple and tasty.

Do you have a chord chart for the tune, or sheet music that show sthe
chords, or can you get someone to tell you what the chords are? If it
prominently involves a D minor chord, then an A natural minor harp
might be a good idea. If there is a D major or no D chord at all, you
might get away with a regular D-harp.

Alternately, third position on a G-harp or fourth position on a C-harp,
or fifth on an F-harp (surprisingly easy as long as you avoid Draw 5
and 9) will all work.

Hey list. i need some educated opinions. I'm going to be playing a
couple of songs in A minor, which i've never done before. Better to get
a lee oscar or a spec 20 in D minor and just play 2nd pos? Sounds dumb
i know but it's a new thang for me. Thanks
