On Monday, Feb. 6, local PBS stations will broadcast an "American
Experience" documentary about Jesse James. The documentary includes a
ton of harmonica played by yours truly. This was one of the most
enjoyable sessions I've done, and the composer did some very creative
things with the harmonica. My favorite is the part with two harmonicas,
one playing a drone on an open fifth, the other playing a slow melody
against it. Pretty shivery stuff.
If you stick around until the end of the program, you'll also hear a
duet between me on harmonica and Eric Weissberg on banjo, playing and
singing the traditional folk song "Jesse James."
The show will air at 8 or 9 PM locally on most PBS stations. Check your
local listings for details.
