[Harp-L] Re: Harp-L Digest, Vol 30, Issue 57

Harp Emotions

Perhaps the reason harpists are told to tap their instrument lightly on
their pant leg during and after playing is so to remove all the blood, sweat, and
tears produced from that little song that hits them hard in the head and
heart.

I have seen Jason play deliciously emotional, finish his part of the song,
turn around to his amp, make adjustments, then return to his microphone and
continue the song with Shawn, Steve and Buckweed.

He also uses a towel on stage to remove what looks like just perspiration.

I think there may be tears involved, also, at times.

I noticed that for Jason's last two shows in Colorado, Oskar Blues and
Lincoln's Road House, Jason colored his hair somewhat darker that usual.
Previously, I was able to witness his eyes as he played, and I do always take note.

With his strands darkened and covering his eyes for his last two
performances in Denver, I was not able to detect his emotions as easily.

What did I do?

I begged for more of his virtuosity, of course, for he, I feel, was emoting
more than I have ever seen, and it moved me more than I have ever been moved
by any of his stage performances in the past.

I was there with him, and Jason, the polished showman, pulled me into his
music so sweetly.

It was a spiritual experience for me as I listened with awe.

I think, Elizabeth, one must keep searching for one's true enlightened harp
path. It will make itself known to you when it is ready.
