That would be great. Richard Farrell once did this with a 260 
chromatic and sent it to me to examine (no, I didn't get to  keep 
it). He had installed threaded studs in the reedplates and fastened 
each reed on with a nut. It worked very well. He also sold a 
conversion kit kit of screws that could be installed into a reedplate 
for screw posts, the nuts to fasten the reeds, and a tool to 
countersink the screw head.

The problem is that doing this in a manufacturing setting is far more 
labor intensive than riveting (or welding as Suzuki does). For that 
reason alone it isn't likely to become standard issue.

However, if you own a drill press you could buy some threaded stud 
material (or flat-head screws) of around 0-90 and some nuts and 
retrofit your own instrument(s). Hmmm . . .
